Tento, a.s. Zilina has been busy since January setting up their development plans. It is their aim to increase domestic sales of tissue paper products compared to 1998 by 50 %, in the Czech Republic by 45 %, and in Poland by 55 %. The planned sales growth also applies to Hungary, where Tento exports tissue paper products in a new packing.

Their last year's production of over 60 thousand tons of toilet paper, handkerchiefs, serviettes and paper towels represents a value 2,2 bil. Sk. Basic raw material used is recycled paper, and they process 60 thousand of it annually. One half of this amount is imported. Each ton of recycled paper saves two tons of wood. Certain part of the imports is 100 % cellulose fibre imported from the Czech Republic, used as a replacement cellulose once produced in their own boiling house. This part of the plant technology was decommissioned in 1992 as ecologically non-compatible. The next stage in ecological improvement was an installation of bleaching technology for the recycled paper. Ecological impact of the current production complies with EVV (Environmentally Friendly Product) standards. Also the packing displays outdoor motifs as a symbol of ecologically compatible production, and all these attempts represent a new strategy of the company products.

The company exports 92 % of their finished products and sells them through their commercial subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Russia. Similar offices are to be established also in Austria, Germany, and Russia.
