Slovak note-books competing with the Czech ones

In support of the sales of the North Slovakia Pulp and Paper Mill a.s. (SCP) Ruzomberok on the Czech market the corporation established its 100 % SCP Bohemia s.r.o. Praha subsidiary on January 1 1999. It replaced their SCP Bohemia Representation. Their Czech market sales accumulated last year to 572,6 mil. CZK for over 21 thousand tons of products. The best selling product was graphic paper, of which they sold over 20 thousand tons. Note-books and other school supplies were also high on a demand list. The present major customers are the wholesalers, e.g. Europapier Bohemia, Smoza Hranice and Ospap Praha, distributing their paper products in the Czech Republic. The most demanded graphic paper products were the small size, followed by large sizes and the rolls. Last year they got a foothold also with school supply of exercise-books and note-books which was not easy in competition with a strong domestic tradition. This year's sales should grow again. The SCP Bohemia set its goal to introduce their assortment of exercise-books, note-books and packaging paper into the rapidly growing supermarket network.

SCP Bohemia Representation based in Prague started to operate on April 1 1997. It was founded upon company's decision to open their subsidiary in the Czech Republic without involvement of any foreign capital, due to their sales fall after the country separation. The Representation carried out a Czech market research and addressed customers and the response came especially from those who already had their experience with the SCP products.
