Custom officers are the guardians of the economic policy of the state

For a common citizen the customs is a place he/she is passing every time he/she travels outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, or when coming back from abroad. Automatically it is subjected to the question: Do you have anything to declare? This is not the end for the customs officers, of course. However, what the citizen is not necessarily interested in is the fact that customs offices are also an important element in the economic system of every state and they represent primarily an entry and exit gate for the flow of goods. Through their activity they make a significant contribution to implementation of the economic policy of the SR and to filling the state treasury by setting and collecting customs fees and VAT from importers.
